To add a bit more incentive to your ranked grind, Blizzard Entertainment is adding another way to earn some new rewards in Overwatch 2 with the Competitive Drives system.

Introduced in the latest patch notes, Competitive Drives will be held as limited-time events found in Competitive Play, featured only for Role Queue. Within this event, players will also gain access to new Signature cosmetics to help show off your progression and dedication on your climb to the top. You will, however, need to work together to continue earning towards these various goodies, but it’ll be all worth it in the long run.

World of Warcraft invades OW2 in the special cross-collab between Blizzard properties, bringing new cosmetics into the fray. But this update also has some important balance changes to take note of before queuing up for matches in Quick Play or Competitive.

Blizzard Entertainment has brought Overwatch 2 players a crossover the size of Azeroth. World of Warcraft characters are invading the hero shooter in a series of crossover skins.

With some of the biggest names in WoW lore represented, the crossover is looking strong and will undoubtedly sell well when they hit the OW2 store. There are four OW2 heroes and four WoW characters on display, across multiple roles within the game, so there should be a skin for everyone. Or you could grab them all if you’re feeling like treating yourself.

Azeroth is set to invade Overwatch 2 with a perfect team-up of Blizzard Entertainment properties. New skins are coming to the hero shooter, revealed today in a new trailer.

The Overwatch 2 x World of Warcraft collaboration features four skins: Lich King Reinhardt, Thrall Zenyatta, Sylvanas Windrunner Widowmaker, and Diamond Magni Torbjörn in a celebration of two of Blizzard’s most popular worlds. The skins are immaculately crafted to pay homage to WoW while still remaining true to the OW2 heroes. Widowmaker stuns as Sylvanas Windrunner, Zenyatta leers thoughtfully as Thrall, and Torbjörn shines in a Diamond variant of his already-existing Magni skin.

The now-defunct Overwatch League left an impact on many with its esports memories but also its awesome in-game skins. Beginning today, some of those skins will be unvaulted as part of a special event.

In what Blizzard calls the OWL Team Inventory Sale, 12 classic OWL-themed skins will return to Overwatch 2 as the game and scene continue the transition into the Overwatch Champions Series era. This means some skins that have been unattainable for a while will be made available once more.

Unluckily (or luckily, for some), the changes are all nerfs. One tank, two DPS, and one support hero have been hit with slight changes that will negatively affect their performance in season 12 and beyond.

The first character to receive a new, MMORPG-inspired look will be Overwatch‘s Widowmaker, who will get a WoW’s Sylvanas Windrunner skin, Blizzard announced on X on Aug. 20. The skin looks almost identical to one of the Windrunner sisters in WoW. It’s purple, like in the fantasy universe (and conveniently the color of Widowmaker’s default skin), and she holds a bow. The only change is a sniper rifle, Widowmaker’s main tool, which Blizzard has remade in the WoW aesthetic. Although if you see it as an ambitious transmog for the Night Elf, it’s more than believable she could be using a gun.

The first Overwatch Championship Series World Finals is heading overseas to Europe to take place at DreamHack Stockholm later this year, Blizzard announced today.

The OWCS at DreamHack marks the hero shooter sequel’s first major in-person tournament in Europe since 2018. At the time, Paris hosted the Overwatch World Cup qualifiers, so a return to the continent is long overdue.

Blizzard said today it has banned over half a million accounts for cheating in Overwatch 2, with an additional 40,000 suspended or banned for intentionally grouping with cheaters.

In a new Defense Matrix blog shared on Aug. 19, Blizzard outlined its ongoing efforts to combat cheaters and hackers using things like aimbot and wallhacks from ruining the experience for players everywhere. And it’s a never-ending struggle.
