The Oranguru and Passiman Research Day has arrived for Pokémon Go players who wish to participate in the event. Here, you’ll be focused on completing Field Research tasks to earn Oranguru and Passiman encounters if you choose to get the Premium Research Ticket.

Prospective Pokémon TCG Pocket players in New Zealand were given a gift by The Pokémon Company this morning after the company announced a soft launch of the mobile title in the country one month before its global release.

Not much information is available about TCG Pocket yet, aside from the fact players get two free packs a day. Now, thanks to an event held by The Pokémon Company International at the start of September that Dot Esports was invited to attend, we know exactly how you get more cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and it’s probably not what you were expecting.

Pokémon TCG Pocket isn’t just about opening packs. Thanks to a new feature called Wonder Pick, trainers can grab one random card from another player’s pack to add to their collections—without that person losing any cards.

Wonder Pick lets you select one card from a booster pack another trainer has opened, but you can only pick one of five randomly selected cards from the other trainer’s pack—which still grants better odds of pulling a rare card than opening a random pack and hoping for the best.

Digital card games like Pokémon TCG Pocket have rare cards players could spend months trying to find, but these games rarely reveal the estimated chances of pulling one from a pack. Pocket is different, though, with estimated drop rates available for each pack to show your chances—and it turns out your odds are pretty bad.

We should elaborate that the version of TCG Pocket we saw during an event hosted by The Pokémon Company at the start of September was an early look at the game and does not reflect the final version of Pocket. Still, we found the drop rates on offer at the time of the event to be a bit shocking.
